I tried it both ways. There is a Cisco 2801 acting as firewall, dhcp/router.
Recently I manually configured the DNS, WINS to point to the server LAN IP, this is how it is currently configured.

Browse All TopicsWe had a PC which was unable to join the domain. The company wanted to machine wiped anyway as they suspected the employee was up to something before she was fired. So I wiped the machine and installed XP and all pertinent updates. Still received the error "A domain controller for the domain example-domain could not be found."
I am at a loss for what to do here? The DNS settings are correct, pointing the the server, and I can ping the domain-name.com from the client PC.
Any suggestions?

DHCP or Static? I've had an issue where even though I was getting a DHCP address it still wouldn't join so I statically entered everything in and it worked after that.
