Linking remote offices to the local domain at the main office

I NEED TO LINK 20 REMOTE OFFICES WITH ABOUT TWO PEOPLE PER LOCATION TO THE MAIN OFFICE. ALL OF THE REMOTE OFFICES HAVE T1 CONNECTIONS AND A DLINK SWITCH. THE CLIENTS ARE RUNNING WINDOWS XP SP3 ( SOON TO UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 7 ). THE MAIN OFFICE HAS TWO DOMAIN CONTROLLERS RUNNING WINDOW SERVER 2008 AND A CISCO ROUTER 2800 SERIES. WE HAVE TWO T1 CIRCUITS HERE AT THE MAIN OFFICE. THE OUTSIDE LOCATIONS HAVE BEEN USING TERMINAL SERVICES TO LOGON, BUT WE DESIRE FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO LOGON DIRECTLY TO THE DOMAIN. WHAT ARE THE BEST OPTIONS FOR THIS SETUP AND WHAT EXACTLY IS NEEDED? IS A TRADITIONAL WAN  WITH VPN'S THE ONLY METHOD FOR FOSTERING THIS TYPE OF CONNECTION? WILL WE ABSOLUTELY NEED WAN AGGREGATED ROUTERS AT EACH LOCATION AND IF SO WHICH ARE THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE? WHAT TYPE OF CONFIGURATIONS ARE NEEDED ON THE SERVER, ROUTER AND CLIENT MACHINES?
