It's an AIR-AP1131AG or 1130AG. I know there is firmware to flash it and convert it to "lightweight" but it is current autonomous.

Browse All TopicsI am having a lot of trouble trying to get a Cisco Aironet 1130AG access point to work and I am wondering if it is possible to add a 1130AG to my network which is not using a Cisco LAN controller, and for that matter, any other Cisco equipment? My thoughts are, that I could just plug this thing into the LAN and configure it with WEP 128 and practically be done with it.

since its autonomous, yes, you can just add it to your network. you just need to log into the web interface to configure the ssid, encryption, etc. the part i can't remember is the defaults to do a first log in. I'm used to the 1240AG and just do command line. If the 1130AG has a console connection, then we can configure the IP that way atleast.
I believe the default username and password on them is "Cisco" for both but it might be lowercase on some. Factort default IP is 10.0.0.1. If you add an address to your PC of 10.0.0.2 (255.255.255.0) and use a crossover cable to plug into the access point (or connect it to your lan) you should be able to browse to the admin page.
Oh, I can get to the configuration page. In fact, I pretty much configured it to match the other access points on the network (thinking that users will only need one work profile). The problem I am having is that I cannot see it either in Intel ProWireless manager or Windows Wireless manager. I have tried the a setup similiar to the current APs on the network (all Symbol btw, but this shouldn't matter) and I have tried it with no encryption and with broadcast SSID ON and guest mode ON.
I don't consider myself an expert and that's why I am wondering if I need another product to manage this AP (in which case I'll need to return it soon) or maybe it's broke (but doubt that).
Thanks
Hi, If the 1131 is brand new, it probably comes with the radio interface in shutdown by default, i've seen this in recent IOS versions,
The fastest way to configure is to go to express security, change the default tsunami ssid and (just for test) enable broadcast ssid.
Then you should go to Network interfaces, select 802.11g, settings, and set it to enable. If that doesn't work and you see no network in windows, then try with a different computer or wireless adapter,
If that doesn't work, maybe the AP has some defect in the radio card.
From what I can tell anything you can do in the CLI you can do in the GUI.
cyoncon is right though, check to make sure the radio is actually up. Also, are you using PoE. If so, that need to be configured properly or the AP doesn't get enough power and auto-shuts off the radio as well. If you're still stumped, post the config and I can take a look at it.

Is it AIR-AP1131AG or AIR-LAP1131AG ? The first is autonomous, the second is "lightweight". The autonomous should work with no controller, the lightweight won't to my knowledge. I'll check and see if you can reconfigure the lightweight to be autonomous, I'm not all that familiar with them we still run the older models here.
