Thanks for your suggestions/comments. I'll check when I get home tonight (for this is where my wireless LAN is).
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI've recently purchased a Sony VAIO CR series laptop shortly after a wife and a work colleague did. All 3 of us are experienced unreliable wireless connectivity where previously, on the same networks and with other deivces, we've not experienced problems. Intermittently, but almost during every session, the wireless connection will drop, and the wireless network cannot be found. Restarting the computer re-establishes the connection. Other wirelessly connected devices (e.g. a PC I have on my home network) remain connected when the Sony VAIO drops out.
Is this a Sony VAIO thing, or a Windows Vista thing, or some combo of the two? Someone suggested that I turn bluetooth off on the laptop as this might be interfering with the wireless connection, but I've yet to try this.
Any takers?
Thanks.

In my original post I mentioned that a colleague of mine was having the same issues. Shortly sfter posting my question here the same colleague drew my attention to a wireless networking patch that Sony have recently released. He says that his wireless connection has been rock solid since installing the patch. So I installed the patch last night, and am checking (with high expectations!) to see that this fixes my issue.

More likely a Vaio problem.
How far are you from the access point? Try putting the computer in the same room, close to the AP and see if you still get dropouts. If that works, it is likely the problem is Vaio.
Also, what access point are you using? And what wireless standard (B, G or N)? I have seen issues with 802.11n coverage due to some AP settings.
