Retrieving 'network key'

i have an HP laptop, XP system. I can no longer connect to my home network, because I 'lost' the network key. There's another laptop that still connects easily. Is there a way to locate the network key on that computer? (Please provide step-by-step directions). Also, how about me using the 'files and settings transfer wizard' under System Tools? Could I transfer the network setting from the other computer to this one? These are both Xp computers and the router is D-Link. i've tried to get the network key in several ways to no avail
