Browse All TopicsI used to have an very good connection to the internet via my wireless router. However, in assisting a friend I hooked up their router to my system and ever since I reconnected my belkin wireless router to my computer, it is extremely slow and will not go to any page but page one of a multi-page url. The icon says "connected" but the signal strength says "no signal". It gets to the internet but slowly and frequently times out. I used the software to reinstall the drivers but same slow results.

It seems that probably you have not configured your wireless router properly. The reason being that before u assisted ur friend u did not share ur configuration with him, so u were fully using the available bandwidth, but after u did assist him, there may be a possibility that he may have misused the network connection, by allocation maximum bandwidth to himself. Thus if so may be the reason, u r not able to open even a page.
So u can configure ur connection securedly, by using passwords and allowing him to use the bandwidth to a maximum peak value u decide, or allow him to share.
U can do the above configurtion through control panel-> network settings.

it sounds as if you have confused your OS. Try deleting then reconnecting your wireless connection.
XP
Start - Connect to then select your wireless network and delete it. Then reconnect it using the current configs for your router.
VIsta
