Browse All TopicsI am trying to connect to a Netgear Wireless Cable Modem Gateway CG814WG v2 and I do not know the password to use to connect to it and nor the encryption type. I am connecting from a MacBook using AirPort. Can anyone help?

Are you physically plugged into the router, or wirelessly? Sorry, some confusion on that one.
Looking at the router itself, is the "i" LED flashing green? If so, the router itself is online. Cable modems don't require authentication like other broadband services, they do not require and username and password to be passed to the router. As long as the wireless part of the router is turned on (you will find this on the setup page. Please be sure the wireless aspect of your router is enabled.), and able to get online, you should be good to go.
Is there another machine you can test your connection on?

It's a good idea to power off both router and pc, then power on the router, let it sort out it's solid green led's, and then power on the pc and head for the router's homepage to complete the setup...
