The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How can I reset the router WRT54GS v2

Asked by Mezczyzna in Wireless Technologies, Network Routers

Tags: Linksys, Wireless router, WRT54GS v2

My boss brought me a wireless router from home to setup.
I did that a few times already and usually had no problem, but this one I am going to step on in a second.....

First I would like to reset it.
I followed what the Linksys chat support gut told me:

1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
2. Unplug the power, keep holding down the reset button for another 30 seconds.
3. Plug back the power back in and keep holding down the reset button for 30 seconds.
4. Release the button.
5. Power cycle (unplug the Power to the router then to the modem, wait for 1 minute then re-plug the power to the modem first and wait for 1 minute and finally re-plug the power to the Router).

I don't have a modem here, but another router, so I did not unplug the modem.

After the reset I get the address 169.254.224.120 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0, which is completely unknown to me.

I would expect 192.168.1.1, but this doesn't exist the IE message says when I try to connect to it.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.
