This is how I would setup a profile in ACU on XP. I'm assuming the vista process is the same.
Open the Atheros Client Utility, and on the Profile Management tab click the Scan button.
Select the desired network's SSID from the list if there is more than 1, and click Activate.
The same Profile Management screen you would get by clicking 'New' should open to its General tab.
Enter a Profile Name (e.g. BT2000); the Client Name by default will be the user name you're logged on as, and the SSID1 should be filled in already from the network you chose on the Scan screen.
Switch to the Security tab.
While WPA/WPA2 is the most secure, as far as I know the voyager 2000 supports only WEP, so choose Pre-Shared Key (Static WEP) then click the Configure... button.
If your password is 5 or 10 characters, select the 64-bit radio button for WEP Key 1 and at the top select HEX for 10 characters or ASCII for 5 characters.
If your password is 13 or 26 characters, select the 128-bit radio button for WEP Key 1 and at the top select HEX for 26 characters or ASCII for 13 characters.
Most routers do not support 152-bit WEP, but that would be 16 or 32 characters.
If the password is 10 or 26 characters, it must consist only of the numbers 0-9 and/or the letters A-F.
If the password is 5 or 13 characters, it can consist of any character you can enter from the keyboard. e.g. the 97 standard characters you can type, or even Alt+#### characters (e.g. Alt+0128 = hold down an Alt key and enter 0 1 2 8 on the numpad - not the numbers across the top - then release the Alt key and a Euro sign should appear if the font you're using has a Euro sign in it)... the Alt+#### combinations show in the lower-right corner when you select them in Character Map.
If your router actually does support WPA or WPA2, I strongly recommend you choose and setup one of those security methods instead of WEP.
OK out of the WEP window. and go to the Advanced tab.
For Authentication Mode choose Open.
Network type should be Infrastructure.
Leaving the Channel on Auto is fine.
You can enter the MAC address of your router in the Preferred APs screen if you want, but that doesn't really help security much.
Click OK and you should then be connected... floating the cursor over the tray icon will show the speed you're connected, IP, et al, in the tooltip.
