Browse All TopicsI have linksys wireless router WRT160N. I tried to upgrade its firmware but resulted in down grading it from 1.53.x to 1.0.2. ?I searched linksys web site and they have only version 1.0 (1.0.2) and 2.0. When I try to upgrade to 2.0 it fails.
What is the difference between 1.0 and 2.0?

Yes indeed the firmware version is confusing in this case.
The 1.53.x firmware was for the WRT150N which received a makeover which resulted in the WRT160N. You can see the 1.53.x as a "beta" firmware. The WRT160N now uses the 1.02.x firmware. If you have checked the firmware date on the status page of your router before updating, you'd have seen that the 1.02.x firmware has a much later release date than the 1.53.x firmware.
One thing though, you can not use the v2 firmware on a v1 device. It uses a different chipset which requires another firmware. (Realtek RT2880F for the v2 instead of the Broadcom 4704 for the v1)

Linksys removed the 1.53 firmware because of the instability of it.
You should however be able to upgrade it to V2.
Are you sure you got the right regional firmware (US, EU, ..)There is a difference.
