Rock on Dude. I knew it had something to do with the the VLAN's, I just needed some clarification and guidance.

Browse All TopicsI am trying to configure Multiple VLAN's through my Cisco Access Point. After I enable the Switchport as a trunk and allow VLAN's, can no longer access the AP for managment. I cannot ping, telnet or access the GUI. Wireless devices are connecting and recieving DHCP from the SBS2003 server. I am attaching the Switch and AP config below to help.
VLAN 1 as the Native / Management VLAN.
VLAN 40 for the wireless network.
VLAN 30 is where my domain and wired network resides including the DHCP server.
VLAN 20 is the Voice VLAN
VLAN 254 connects to the internal interface of the PIX for internet access.

Ok.. Here is your problem. You have set up the AP to recognize two vlans. Vlan 1 and vlan 40. You goal was to have vlan 1 be the management interface. The BVI1 interface is associated to vlan 1. You have put a vlan 40 ip address on the BVI1 interface. That is why you can't access it. So you have two options. Either, give the BVI1 interface an ip address that is associated on Vlan 1 - from you configs I can't tell what that would be as you have the layer 3 vlan 1 interface on the switch shutdown, or you can change the AP and make vlan 40 the native vlan. If you do this, use bridge-group 1 on the interface xxxx.40 interfaces. Also, you will need to add the command switchport trunk native vlan 40 on the switchport as well. Then you can leave the vlan 40 IP address on the BVI1 interface.
The BVI1 interface is always associated to bridge-group 1 on the AP. Since bridge-group 1 is defined on vlan1, then vlan BVI1 is on vlan 1.
