Browse All TopicsI tried setting up the linksys WRT400 with a wireless key and cannot get it to work. When client computers (all winxp clients) try to connect the router says access failed. When I take out the password, the wireless connects right away, what am i doing wrong

I would use WPA-Personal for a small network. It will work fine for what you want. Also you should have an option for Encryption. I personally use TKIP, but AES should work. Try it 1st with a real simple passphrase and see if that works. Also, what kind of wireless cards are in the clients? Make sure the drivers/software are up to date.

What kind of security are you using on the WRT4000? WAP? WEP?
