Is that something like a RADIUS server? I'm not familiar with the capabilities of that system or the Cisco system, but I do know that I need to minimise cash expenditure (or not spend at all preferably :)

Browse All TopicsWe have several offices at discrete geographic locations. Using standard wireless networking equipment each site is equipped with a wlan.
I have been asked if it is possible to setup the wlan so that a user moving from one office can seamlessly connect to the wireless network at another office.
On the surface, giving each wireless access point the same SSID and security would do the job since they are too far apart to interact with each other. However I am somewhat concerned with the security implications of this, especially as the wlan's are effectively behind our primary firewall (offices connected by MPLS, access point attached to MPLS modem).
Is there another way to control wireless access? I can only think that some sort of centralised system would get around the issue of who can connect and who can't, but I know of no such system.
Any thoughts appreciated. I hope I explained myself clearly above, but not entirely sure what I'm looking for so feel free to ask for clarification.
Thanks

Hi there
The best option here is to use Cisco wireless controller at the HQ to push the policy to the remote site. From the wireless controlller you can manage SSIDs and push them across your wan.
We use this sulution for all office around UK.
regards.
