Using Motorola SB6121 Modem and Netgear N600 WIFI Router with COMCAST

I recently purchased a Motorola SB6121 Modem to use with Comcast. I called Comast and verified it has been successfully added to their network. The modem itself is very basic and does provide any WIFI. I can plug the modem directly in and get online no problem.

However, once I plug the modem into the internet port of the Netgear N600 Router, the blue light on the modem goes amber and there is no connection to the web via WIFI or hard wired.

I have tried the following steps:

1. Power cylced Modem
2. Power cycled Router
3. Manula config of router
4. Genie config of router - the config stops becuase it cannot connect to internet
5. I have the modem plugged into the router, (YES, I am verifying I am using the internet port on the router), unplugged power from both. Power up modem first, then router.
5. The same as #5, but powered up router first, then modem.
6. I can easily connect to the LAN WIFI.

Sometimes you have to clone your computer's MAC address to get things working. David Johnson has actually given you a pretty good idea of how to do it already.

What did you configure on the netgear for its internet connection?

I really didnt configure anything. I have done so many in the past that were so close to plug and play, I ASSumed this would be too.

I will be home later this afternoon to try out.

The actual model number is wndr3400
The WNDR3400 must have already been setup or it should have launched the setup wizard as soon as you opened a browser. Your easiest fix would be to do a factory reset on it.  You do that by using a toothpick or straightened paperclip and pressing the reset button for 5 seconds.  After that, use a browser to setup the router again; but, change the name(s) of your wireless! (Windoze gets confused when you reuse an old SSID)

Always check the configuration, even if you don't read the manual :)
