Signal strength and trilateration should be used for calculation. however, i would like to know what techniques should be used for an accurate measurements and any piece of code to calculate rssi wil be highly appreciated.

I mean, obstacles are really affect the streangth..
but also, old and new cellphones are differ in Bluetooth signal strength..! e.g. Sony Erricsson P800 differs from Nokia 6600.. Imagine a long list of different devices and types..
also, there are different types (Class) of bluetooth: [Class 1] is up to 100 meters..(320 feet) .. Class 2 (i think) is up to 20 meters (65 feet) and finally class 3 which is mostly used in small devices such as mobiles is up to 10 meters (32 feet)..
However. there are some codes outthere.. if i found some, i will tell you..

From what i know,
RSSI is for segnal strength, as it differs from device to device,
so you can not calculate accurate distance between 2 devices..
