More BT connectios - multiple adapters ?

Hello Experts,
        I know most of the bluetooth adapters support only 6 or 7 connections at a time.
I have an application (runs on a PC) which needs to support more connections. (not using PAN master/slave)
So I was wondering whether there is a way to to do this. One thing came to my
mind is to add multiple BT adapters to the PC. Is that possible ? If not, what is the restriction ?

I'm aware that this is not trivial, so any idea would be greatly appreciated.
