Logitech bluetooth keyboard via SetPoint and second keyboard via USB KVM
Tags: Logitech, SetPoint, 4.24.99, Logitech bluetooth keyboard via SetPoint and second keyboard via USB KVM, Logitech, Bluetooth Desktop, MX5000, Logitech bluetooth keyboard via SetPoint and second keyboard via USB KVM
I have two towers.

One tower is in the front room, one tower is at my desk.

I want to be able to use both towers from my desk, via KVM switch.

I also want to be able to use the front room tower from the front room, where I have a separate monitor.

Let's ignore the monitor issues for now, ultimately I plan to use two graphics cards.

My current problem is the keyboard.  Only the keyboard.  The mouse setup is working fine.

I have two keyboards.  One is in the front room, and one is at my desk.

The one in the front room is a Logitech MX5000 Bluetooth wireless keyboard.  I use the bundled Bluetooth dongle that came with the keyboard, and have installed the Logitech SetPoint software.  This keyboard works fine.

The other keyboard is a generic, no brand usb keyboard, which I have plugged into my IOGear 4-port MiniView KVM switch.  If I select the desk tower from the KVM, the wired keyboard and mouse that are plugged into the KVM switch work fine.  If I select the front room tower, however, the mouse works, but the KEYBOARD DOES NOT.

The Bluetooth keyboard and mouse continue to work fine, when I'm sitting at my desk, and have selected the front room tower.  In other words, both mouses work on the front room tower when I select that tower from my KVM, but only the Bluetooth keyboard works.  NOT THE WIRED KEYBOARD.

The cables are properly connected to the KVM switch, and properly connected from the KVM switch to the various towers.

I have done some research before posting here, of course, and it seems there are some issues with the SetPoint software affecting other devices.  I am assuming that the SetPoint software is preventing the front room tower from recognizing another keyboard device, but I have no idea how to deal with this.  If I "exit" the SetPoint utility, the USB keyboard still doesn't work on this tower.  I have not gone so far as to uninstall SetPoint, as I would like to keep the customization ability for my keyboard in the front room, and I am not certain whether this would fix the issue in any event.

I DO NOT want to use only one keyboard, either the wired or wireless, so please do not propose that solution.  I want to leave the wireless keyboard in the front room, and I want the Bluetooth dongle to be connected DIRECTLY to that tower, so that whenever anyone needs to use that computer from the front room, they will be able to do so (once I get the monitor situation resolved).

I just want to be able to bring up that system from my desk via the KVM, wired mouse and wired keyboard at my desk on occasion, when I'm working from my desk.
