Bluetooth Problem under Vista. Bluetooth Doesn't Discover Anything.

Hello

I am a computer guy myself and it's not an easy question or problem.

This is a serious problem which won't be easy to resolve.

I have seen this on many laptops and now 2 of my main Vista Laptops have this problem.

Please read carefully before you answer or advise something what I have already done.

I have 2 laptops now which DONT DISCOVER ANYTHING via BLUETOOTH

1. Macbook Pro 2,4Ghz (older version) and Asus F6V, both of them have inbuild Bluetooth which was working completely fine on Windows Vista SP2 till it stopped few days ago.  I have seen this problem on many other Vista laptops and the only working solution was WINDOWS REINSTALLATION which is not the option here (so please dont advise reinstalling Windows or Windows Restore).

2. Both bluetooth cards on both laptops has been tested on Linux and MacOSX and are working fine on some other OS. Bluetooth hardware is OK and tested.

3. Both bluetooth radios can be configured, turned off and on as well as discovered from some other bluetooth device.

4. Discovery of both laptop's bluetooth is possible but connection can not be created from any other device.

5. I have tried installing many different versions of the drivers available on manufacturers pages, as well as laprop support pages and windows update.

6. I have tried uninstalling the drivers and deleting them to reinstall with "have disk" option.

7. I have tried using several "Driver Finders" to replace, update, uninstall, install drivers.

8. I have used many registry cleaners and healers with no luck.

9. It looks like there is a conflict with some other Windows Vista update or some problem with the registry allowing laptops bluetooth to discover other devices.

10. What Im looking for is a solution to reset bluetooth in the registry, remove all the drivers and registry settings and hopefully reuse it.

11. It looks like everything should be working but it isnt because of some loose ends.

Any advice, bluetooth registry tweaks, bluetooth third party soft or bluetooth healing software would be nice.

Thanks for your help

Michael
