I don't understand what ppc2002 is?

In any event are you sure that your phone is GSM AT compatible?

sorry for being not so clear,
I have to develop an application on a pocekt pc which has pocket pc 2002 OS. now my problem is that I have to develop an application for GPRS communication on the pocket pc.I have a GSM,GPRS compatible modem by maestro.
I am developing the application using evc++3.0 and pocket pc 2002.how do i start sending the data using the GPRS communications

help me out with this

OK. First I don't understand why a GSM compatible modem is not responding to AT commands. At least it should respond to just "AT" by returning "OK".

The next question is, what sort of application is it? SMS or TCP/IP based?

The GSM modem does responds to the AT commands,I am able to send and receive SMS,voice calls on it, that is not a problem.

My problem is I have to develop a GPRS application on it.There are AT commands for the GPRS communication but my GSM/GPRS modem is not responding to the AT commands sent through the hyperterminal.

so please guide me how do i go about

"The GSM modem does responds to the AT commands,I am able to send and receive SMS,voice calls on it, that is not a problem."

A GSM modem does respond to AT commands if it can send SMS messages. I suspect that your modem is NOT AT compatible. What is the make and model number?

Big Rat, I think there is a slight misunderstading here.
My modem is GSM/GPRS compatible.I can send AT commands and recieve the responses from the modem.

My problem is not related to GSM or SMS.I have to send Data in my application using GPRS

I have already worked with GSM AT commands, but for the GPRS communications something extra has to be done other than just sending AT commands.

please guide me in that direction

"I have already worked with GSM AT commands, but for the GPRS communications something extra has to be done other than just sending AT commands."

Correct. The action is to establish a PPP link between your computer and the network using, amongst other things, the AT+CGDCONT command.

I'm no Pocket PC expert but I thought that Sockets were available as an interface, in which case installing the phone as a modem (with the required driver) would give you a TCP/IP connection to the net and thereby unlimited access to all sorts of services.

Have you tried sites like http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums ?

hi
i think you can do nothing about GPRS connection via hyperterminal, but you can establish GPRS connection by typing ATd*99***1#. then get some strange response packets. that means you are in GPRS network mode. after 3 seconds the connection will be dead again. that is all you can do through hyperterminal.
