Connecting to the GPRS network through Modem-Help needed urgently

Hi all,
I am very new to GPRS n all. My problem is I have to connect to a GPRS network through a Modem. I need all the information regarding this.
First of all what is the specification of the modem that I should use to connect to the GPRS network. Secondly, what needs to be done while and after installing the modem on a PC. Also, what is the GPRS component which needs to be connected to, for reading or sending MMS.
Actually my ultimate problem is to receive and send MMS through GPRS network. Please help me in this regard as this is a very urgent stuff.
Any help in any form would be appreciated.
