The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

GPRS and Windows XP embedded

Gents,
I am having probs with getting my GPRS cellphone modem identified when I "create a new connection" in Windows XP embedded.

Here is the long story: I have a SAMSUNG BlackJack with data connection. I have installed the cellphone modem on the Windows XP embedded and I can see it in control panel / phone & modems. This is the only modem installed and it is installed as SAMSUNG Mobile Modem on COM6. Thats not the problems.

The problem starts when I "create a new connection" in the network connection window. I select "connect to the internet", here after "Set up my connection manually". I then select "Connect using a dial-up modem". After this screen I am suppose to see the "select device" window but it directly skips to the "Connection Name" screen. I type in the name, phone number and logon info. The wizard is then done. When I then look at the modem which has been selected it says "Unavailable - device missing". If I try to go to the properties of the newly created connection, I am not allowed to change the modem and even here it says: "Modem Removed - Unavailable device COM1".

So my question is how can I get the connection to switch to my Samsung Mobile Modem on COM6. I have tried the same in Windows XP and here it works fine, the problem just seem to exist in Windows XP embedded.

Hope someone can help me solve this problem!
