This is a known problem with the 6230. I've already seen one like this.

Question
nokia 6230 insert sim card error
Today i was gone snowboarding and when i arrived down and got my 6230 out of my pocket it was displaying insert sim card. i got a few bumps but nothing to hard. the phone didn't get wet. i tried different sim cards but nothing works.what's wrong ? can it be fixed? how ?

Hi,
You may need to clean the contact points on the sim and the phone.
For the SIM, use a pure rubber eraser, just wipe the contact points clean and re-insert and see. Make sure theres no ribber on the sim.
If the above does not work for you, you may need to clean the phones contact points as well. However since I doubt whether yo may have the equipment, see if you can get someone at a mobile shop to assist.
If the above do not help, take out the warranty card and see the supplier. BTW do not allow anyone to open the phone up for cleaning other than the supplier as it may void the warranty.
