Question

Lock Nokia N70 in 3G / UMTS channel

Asked by: Aryo1

Hi Experts,

In nokia N70, you can switch between GSM Mode or Dual Mode (GSM or 3G Mode). And in order to use 3G from N70 cellphone, you must set your mode to "Dual Mode", but if we move to some weak 3G spot area, this phone automatically switching back to GSM Mode.

I was wondering, is there any way to "lock" nokia N70 channel to 3G (UMTS) channel ? So I can still connected to 3G (UMTS) network if I still in 3G coverage and the 3G signal is weak.

Thanks for your comment,

Aryo Handono

I also have an N70.  Perhaps try changing the Operator Select option (right under the Network Mode one) to manual then see if there are multiple listing for your carrier.  On mine I can see 3G only for my carrier and mine never drops to GSM but other carriers have two listings, one for 3G and the other for GSM.  If you carrier has two listing, set it to the 3G one and it should stay there.

Yes,
I try that before but my carrier only display one listing, there is no 3G listing on that.

Is there any other way to force it, maybe by using software or tools or something ?
