The AT+CMGS command should be used like AT+CMGS=n, where "n" is the number of octects of the PDU that is to be submitted/sent. And, the phone number should be one of the fields in the PDU.

See the link http://www.dreamfabric.com/sms/
It has a good description of how to construct the PDU.

I am sorry to say but I have looked that link before sending the problem. But the main problem is that The procedure is very complex to do and I am not understanding many things in that article.

Is there  not a easy way to convert "destination mobile no" in the PDU format. Please let me know if any.

Thanks

Hi teamsunarc,

There is a link http://nerdlabs.org/tools/pdu.php, this can convert a given text to PDU data. You may use this for converting a specific string that you would like to PDU data.

If you are looking to write code that will convert any given string to PDU data, sample source code is also available online.

Get back if you need help further.

I looked   http://nerdlabs.org/tools/pdu.php.  But I am working on Windows application with C#.net and that code is in C.  The next thing that before you sent a articles link in which we found procedure to conversion but just see that article, that is convert "+27381000015" to 72 83 01 00 10 F5 but when I converted that mobile number by second url then it is giving me "2BD96D868BC1603058AC06". I think both results have big difference.

I also converted  this "+27381000015" by PDUSPY converter and found same result like "2BD96D868BC1603058AC06". I am confused by them.

I want the code for conversion in C#.net. One thing more that Should I pass destination mobile no and sms's text both in "CMGS=n" command for pdu ?.

Thanks for help

I see there a few things that you're asking above:
1. The format of using AT command for sending message is:-
Command syntax in text mode:
AT+CMGS= <da> [ ,<toda> ] <CR>
text is entered <ctrl-Z / ESC >
Command syntax in PDU mode :
AT+CMGS= <length> <CR>
PDU is entered <ctrl-Z / ESC >

Exaxmple 1. The format of using AT+CMGS command in PDU mode is:-
Command: AT+CMGS=14<CR>
Response: +CMGS: 4
Command: 0001030691214365000004C9E9340B (the actual PDU data tobe given after a CR).
Response: OK

Example 2. The format of using AT+CMGS command in text format is:
Command: AT+CMGS=+33146290800<CR>
Response: +CMGS : 7
Command: Message to send <ctrl-Z>
Response: OK (Note: Successful transmission)
Respnse: +CDS:... (Note:message was correctly delivered)

2. Sample code to convert text to PDU :-
Check the link: http://nerdlabs.org/projects/pduconv.php

3. The difference in the data that you see could be differnce in the data coding scheme used, TP-DCS.

Nagavali

Hello Nagavali,
Thanks for the above information. It is great. But What is the information is combine in this string.

Command: 0001030691214365000004C9E9340B (the actual PDU data to be given after a CR).

Is text message and destination phone number combined with it?

Thanks for information above text format but I have already done it. I wanted to do by pdu format.

Thanks
