How do I communicate between my pc and GPRS module

i want to transfer data through gprs from my simcom module to my pc.
my pc connects to internet through broadband connection and gets a dynamic ip.
same is the case with my module(it also gets ip assigned by service provider) . after i get both the ips, how to set up communication between the both.
do i need to make a server on my pc? or will the data transfer take place directly ??

plz provide me with basic steps as i am new to gprs.
i am a third year student of electronics and telecommunication engineering.
