The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

URGENT!! How to setup a WAP server / WAP Gateway using IIS?

Asked by clarkyip in Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), Miscellaneous Web Development, Microsoft IIS Web Server

My company would like to host a WAP application internally, that means the WAP server / WAP Gateway are hosted by us, but the using those outside ISP or telecom carrier.

I search and found some sites that teach me to add some MIME file types in the HTTP header in IIS can make the IIS Web server become a WAP server. However I can't find some tutorial about the part setting up the WAP Gateway. Is there anyone can provide clear help about how to setup the IIS Web server become a WAP server? And how to setup / config a WAP Gateway?

I've downloaded the Openwave V7 simulator and tested to load some WML files in my "WAP" server (IIS Web server with adding some headers), they are fine. But when I tried to load those pages in my "WAP" server using some web-based simulator (like http://www.wapsilon.com/), they cannot be loaded by returning the message: "Wrong mime-type, I got text/html, but I want text/vnd.wap.wml.
This error occurs when you request a page that is not a WAP page, or when the webserver isn't set up correctly for hosting WAP sites ". Therefore I am not sure whether the setup in my WAP server is correct or not.

Finally if I want to test the WAP app with a real WAP mobile, is it first I should join a telecom carrier package for this phone, then using the WAP browser in the phone to load the WML fils in my WAP server, right? In this way, the telecom will charge for the WAP data download.... However, is there a way that this cost can be eliminated?Start Free Trial
