MacBook Pro, Netgear & WPA only allowing access to the internet and not the local network

Hello,

I have an Intel based MacBook Pro running Leopard (10.5.3). I'm trying to connect it through a Netgear WPN802 WAP, which is connected to a Netgear DG834 router.

If I have no security set in the WAP (Open System) I can use the internet and connect to network resources fine. When however enabling WPA or WPA2, I can connect to the internet, but am unable to access any resource on the local network, just trying to access the WAP admin panel times out which seems very strange given that I am connected to it.

Naturally I would like to be able to connect with WPA/WPA2 and have access to both the internet and local network, not either-or.

Connecting through the built-in-ethernet allows me to access everything, and connecting through the airport in Windows also works correctly. I'm assuming then that this is a specific OS X, Airport, Netgear issue. I have tried removing the network from my preferred networks, and removing the keychain for it, but to no avail.

If anyone can provide some assistance I would be most grateful.Start Free Trial
