Sony Vaio VGN-C1S running XP Pro used to use a Vodafone 3G dongle which gave lousy connectivity. I have uninstalled the Vodafone software to try reverting to the internal wireless but when seeking to detect wireless networks get this message:
Windows cannot configure this wireless connection.
If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection use that software
If you want windows to configure .. start the WZC service.
I've done all steps but nothing changes. I've updated the Sony Vaio to Update 3 level, reinstalled the drivers for the wireless card; disabled and re-enabled; started the WZC service to no avail. Other laptops detect the WLAN OK. It is almost as though the Vodafone software has not completely uninstalled but before I try blindly doing a registry search for vodafone has anyone got any ideas? I've had this machine on the bench for a week and its driving me mad. Oh - yes the WLAN switch is on and illuminated.
