Question

Looking for wireless access point with guest access

Asked by: cgtyoder

The school I work for would like to add (wireless) guest internet access for visitors, to keep non-employees off the business LAN.  Don't need a "click here to accept access terms" page - we'll just have it password protected.  Of course, cost is an issue - can't afford Cisco.  Cheap is better; I have the expertise to jury-rig things if that will save money, but I don't know what all is out there.  TIA for the recommendations.

if cost is an issue and you aren't worried about signal, pick up a higher end retail wireless router and assign it one of your Public IP's that isn't in use

You can just pick up any old wireless router and hook it up to your DMZ, and they won't have access to the network that way.

I'm looking for specific wireless routers/wireless access point hardware recommendations.  Sorry if I wasn't clear earlier.  The HP site sells many brands of wireless routers - it's like telling me to go to pcmall.com to look for wireless devices.  The Meru routers look to start at $500, which is probably out of my price range.  If you have any other specific recommendations, please let me know.

Responses were far too general to be of any significant use, other than to point me in a general direction of a solution.
