Are Super G wireless networks more robust than standard G?

Asked by Lord_Lovatt in 802.11 Wireless Access Points, Wireless Network Cards & Adapters, Wireless Local Area Network

I know that Super G (108mbps) wireless networks use channel bonding to double the throughput, but in real life are they any more robust than standard 54G networks?

I have set up a few such Super G networks in heavily overcrowded areas, and they seem to hold their own very well compared with normal G.  However, I am not sure if I just got lucky, or if they are in fact more robust?

Secondly, I understand a 54G receiver cannot operate in Super G mode, but can it take advantage at all of the benefits of a Super G network?
