SUPRESS AUTO LOGIN IN FTP SCRIPT FROM AS400 TO UNIX SERVER

Asked by ckellems in AS / 400, Programming for iSeries / AS400

I have  serveral successfull ftp scripts that transfer data from an as400 (v5r2) to various ftp servers.  A new wrinkle has been encountered were the existing scripts will not log on.  There personel state "The problem is the new FTP server disconnects after a failed authentication attempt, the old one did not.

Is there any way you can avoid the first login attempt?  Are you in an environment that uses a .netrc ?  If so, that may be the problem: ftp is grabbing your default credentials from that file."

I cannot find a way to create this .netrc file or an attribute to prevent the auto-logon attempt.  Is there a way to accomplish this....Has anyone encountered this issue before.  I just want to be able to get this to work.
