The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Call a program to display a .pdf based on screen data

Can anyone come up with a way to (after adding a clickable button to the toolbar in Client Access) so when you click the button, a row/column screen position is read and a parm passed to a program that will cause Adobe reader to start and display a specific .pdf file?

For example:
In the following screen data, the BA in 'Type' needs to be 'read' and combined with '.pdf' so a  pdf reader can be called and bring up ba.pdf thereby displaying it's contents which in this case would be the trailer drawings/schematics for viewing.

Change TRAILER MASTER 14:00:31
Trailer Code . . . BA5605 (?)
Last Update 7/01/08 11:09 LH
Delete Status . . (D=Delete A=AVAS) Division Code . . . 002 (?)
Type . . . . . . . BA
License Group Code. OK
Owner Code . . . . LSTSPL (?) *************
Fleet Code . . . .
Pay Percentage XXXX (9.999)
Base License . . . XXXXXX
Empty Rate . . . (9.999)
Year Made . . . . 2006 Loaded Rate. . . (9.999)
Make/Description . TRAILKING Cost Center. . . 000
VIN/Serial Nmbr. .
Axle Spacing . .
F3=Exit F4=Prompt F5=Update F10=Restart

I really need a way to pass the trailer type combined with .pdf to any program that can display a .pdf and feed the 'ba.pdf file name to it as a parameter.

All wisdom is appreciated.
