A customer has outgrown their Windows 2003 Server (it is a domain controller) and have a new I Series With terabytes of free space. They want me to meet with IBM to see if it is feasible to migrate all data (300 gig) to the I Series and either retire the server or continue to use it as just a domain controller. They don't have exchange or sql server running on the domain controller. All workstations have IBM Client Access terminal emulator already installed. Personally, I would rather see them install a new server as I am theirutsourced network administrator. I have nothing to do with the I series machine. Is this a good isdea or a bad idea? What should I be asking IBM? What are the pitfalls with this. They know they have to set up a daily backup routine and are willing to handle that. Antivirus is Symantec Corporate edition and could be used in an unmanaged configuration for the workstations if needed.
