The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Server Files showing as unix executable file.

I previously posted due to fonts exhibiting this behaviour, but it looks more serious now. A user is trying to access a Quark file that is shared on a file windows 2003 fileserver. One MAC a 9.2 has no problem accessing the file from the network share, another MAC 10.3 (panther) sees the files as unix executable files. Other file types are effected as well such as jpegs and apfs being opened with photoshop CS. Word and Excel files are fine.

Some background on this MAC is that it would not connect to our fileserver due to the fact that we use a .local domain. I found a fix on the apple support site ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107800 ). Once the script was done it could connect to the fileserver but it would not see all the shares (still working on this one). Other then that everything else was smooth.

Any Ideas?
