The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Resize Partition Mac OS X (10.3 panther) on a old IBook (G3)

Asked by jboyfinn in Apple Operating Systems, Mac OS 10.3 (Panther), Mac OS 10.2 (Jaguar)

Hi,
   Could anybody refer me to a site or software product that would allow me to reallocate my Hard Drive's free space from one partition to another? I need to give the partition OS X runs on more free space.

My set-up is as follows
Mac iBook (G3 500Mhz Processor)
256 MB Ram
Operating System OS X Panther 10.3

Additional Set-up Notes
===============
My iBook is one of the last series of Apple Macintosh marques that allows a dual boot by pressing (ALT on a restart) and I have the CLASSIC OS 9.1 OS installed on another partition.

Things to bear in mind
===============
* I've looked at Q21131443 (re FWB Hard Disk Toolkit)
   http://www.experts-exchange.com/Applications/Macintosh_Applications/Q_21131443.html?query=partition+AND+%28resizing+OR+resize%29++AND+%28Mac+or+Macintosh%29&clearTAFilter=true

* Apparently, FWB Hard Disk Toolkit 3.0.2 won't work with iBooks (see iBook Readme on Apple's site http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58335) What about the more recent versions

* I don't mind paying for some software but it should be approaching the quality of Partition Magic (I've been using various versions of it over the years and I see it as very hard to act to follow - their support is unbeatable as well)

Thanks
