Mac Outlook 2011 Sync Problem

On an iMac machine running Outlook 2011 version 14.4.1 I have a sych issue. The machine is connected to the company Exchange server.  When looking at the progress bar for the sync I keep seeing Outlook trying to download attachments for a users mailbox. It says "Deleted Items - Downloading Attachments 0/20"

In the past emails with attachments have only been part received with Outlook generating backups of the .docx attachement. When you open the backup you see only part of the document.

Sync counts through the files, then starts again. It never completes successfully.

We have another machine with Outlook setup in the same way and the same user profile,  when the user logs in there are no issues with sync. There are no issues  with part received attachments.

This leads me to believe the issue is with this Mac machine and not Exchange.

Any help in resolving this would be appreciated.

As you mention, the problem is most likely within the user area.

You can test this quickly by making a new user on the mac and only open Outlook on it and use the same user settings. If that is fine it definitely is the user area.

It would be worth the try to remove (make a copy before deletion) all Microsoft settings folders within the user area.

/Users/Problemuser/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/

/Users/Problemuser/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft… files

/Users/Problemuser/Documents/Microsoft User Data/

All these files would be built again, but the user might possibly miss some settings from the template folder.

The problem wasn't Outlook, the problem was connectivity to Exchange server. Once identified Outlook worked fine.
