How to backup a domain in cpanel from shell. I repeat from shell. I know how to do it from cpanel interface, I want to know the process from shell

Hi,

You need to backup your /var/named directory to backup all your cPAnel Domains.
A command like that will do

tar cvzf /tmp/cpanel-named$-(date +%Y%m%d).tgz /var/named

will create a /tmp/cpanel-named-20090815.tgz file including all your domain data.

Hi,

You can use the cpanel backup command:

/scripts/pkgacct <name>

Replace <name> with the account name that will backup all files along with mysql & mail.

This will create a file in the current location called cpmove-<name>.tar.gz

No, that did not helped. What I did is I created the backup and then restored the domain in one of our working cpanel server and then renamed the domain over there

After that we have taken backup of the renamed domain and restored on the expired cpanel license server and issue has been fixed
