What version of Plesk are you running? Then I can tell you where to look exactly.

Browse All TopicsHi I recently created a series of new DNS records after adding the changes i received the message stating to hit "Update" or "Revert" the changes i have created. I hit "Update" and then got 2 errors that some of the cnames were already created. However the DNS records i created do not show up. I need to know where i can access within Plesk the DNS record logs to view the list of records i recently add.

Hi jon,
Thank you for your response, I'm a complete newb at this so please bare with me. When you mention
"Open a Shell."
do you mean login to the Plesk Control Panel?
Within the Server there is a "Action Log" section however i have downloaded that file and it only gives me information about login times to the server.
(might be as easy as: locate log | grep "\.log$" )
I believe you meant for me to put this into a command line? I can't seem to find a command line within my control panel. The help section isn't useful at all when i search for a command line it only gives me examples of things to do not where its located.
Yes all of the checkboxes including "Domain DNS Zone" is checked on. Below is log that gets downloaded, mind you i put the variable "X" in place of the ip address and the user/database names.

Can you rectify these statements? If Plesk tells you they are created, and you only use Pleask, how do you know that they are in fact not created? Is there some other part of Plesk that tells you they are not created? I'm not following you...

Hi Jon,
Thank you Jon for your response to my question. What i'm trying to say is that for example when i go into the DNS Settings for my domain and select "Add Record" for example a "MX" record or "A" record and once its created theres two buttons with the following options. "Update" and "Revert" When i hit the "Update" button the message at the top tells me they are already created. However i do not see them displayed at the bottom of the itemized list. Maybe i have to create them in order and not at once? However i'm more concerned on retrieving the log for the DNS records that have been created. I'm very new at this, I'm having problems with my emails and the tech support rep told me to create a bunch of records.
Hi endlessM08,
I apologize for leaving you hanging. Been trying to plan a wedding :/
It seems that getting to the logs is not the primary issue here, I didn't know you were being rejected to add new records.
You can add as many/change as many DNS records at once as you want. The only thing Plesk will not let you do is delete all NS records without supplying at least one new record first.
If Plesk is telling you the record already exists, then Plesk has a database entry within its own database that is conflicting with what you are trying to enter.
At this point you have two options to fix this problem:
1. Manually edit the psa database to remove the issue, or
2. Delete and recreate the domain
Depending on your skill with using MySQL and/or phpMyAdmin, you could fix the records, however, if you are not 100% sure of what you are editing, you could damage your psa database beyond usability.
I would suggest copying the files from the domain to a safe spot (including access logs and traffic statistics from /home/httpd/vhosts/<domainn
To be sure you don't have a system wide issue, create a test domain and attempt to create the same type and value of DNS record in the test domain first. If you can't, then you have an issue of a larger scope that is beyond this question.
Hope that helps

Open a shell.
View the plesk log files (might be as easy as: locate log | grep "\.log$" )
Cheers,
