High Availability Using Plesk and Redhat

Asked by adminaws in MySQL Server, Red Hat Linux, Plesk

I have 4 linux servers and a hardware friewall.

2 servers are database servers and I plan to use them for Master/Slave Mysql Replication
2 Servers are Plesk and run the front end, I dont have a load balancer, so I though I could also use them as a master/slave type, ie If 1 fails, use the second server - and perhaps keep them up to date with rsync.

I have heard that software loadbalancers are unreliable, so until we can afford one, its best to use the 2 web servers as a master/slave also.

I am trying to put a plan to gether on how best to use the hardware to achieve a situation where a single point of failure at worst will take us down for an hour..

Can I use the firewall as a failover, ie its used now for public IP connections that it transferrs to local IP addresses...
