  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. how to host multiptle domains

The company I work for has just started 5 other small companys and I am required to get these companys both email, webmail and a advertising webpage up and going. I have purchassed RHEL 3.0, one server, and 5 domains. There will be a total of 15-20 users on this server.  This server will be both a email server and a web server.
postfix
apache
spamassassin
dovecot
squirrelmail
My domains are domain1.com, domain2.com, domain3.com, domain4.com, domain5.com
I have never hosted multiple domains for web or mail before. From what I have read I need to setup virtual users in postfix and virtual hosts in apache. I have some questions.

1. I have created my virtual host using the redhat-config-httpd in the virtual hosts section. My document root directory for domain1.com is /var/www/html/domain1/ and I have created a test page in this directory called index.html. I am using the name based virtual host. After updateing my /etc/hosts file to have domain1.com in it I point my browser to domain1.com and I am getting the defualt apache webpage instead of the index.html webpage in /var/www/html/domain1/. What am I doing wrong? I have restarted the webserver and made sure the permisions on the file /var/www/html/domain1/index.html were owned by apache.
