How can I use Fedora 8 rescue disk to resume root password

Asked by vvcat in Linux Administration

Tags: Fedora, Linux, 8

I suddently run "pwconv" using root privilege command, after that, all userid including root account cannot login to Fedora 8 from telnet as well as console, I try to login single user mode, but failure.

Fourtunately, I have made a copy from /etc/shadow file before running "pwconv" command, I heard that using Fedora rescue disk can help to fix root password or copy /etc/shadow.bk to /etc/shadow, how can I use this disk to accomplish that, can you show me the steps.
