Question

volume group is deactivated not able to mount in LVM

Dear Experts:

power went off while migrating the extents from one  volume to the another after this not able to mount the/home , reinstalled the os with new hard disk and connected the corrupted LVM , folllowing message is posted below for your reference

there is a command

lvchange -a y /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01

to Activate the logical volume

you can try with that...

Dont you have UPS to save your server from electrice probelm !!!

thanks for the reply , sir now iam able to mount the /home, but the directories which contained the data is not accessible . posted the ls-la for your reference

can you enter to the directory ???


did you restart the server,, try to restart the server , see if it helps to recover those data ...

thanks for the reply , i cannot cd to murali  also when restart it will force me to run e2fsck this asks for abort when say NO then continuously should keep answering "YES"
tried with -f  and -y does not work hence keep saying yes for all the questions but kept doing for 08 hours still did not complete hence aborted and tried by mounting, please help to fix this.

lvm is good, but if you lost data, its would be hard to make it fix

normaly we use fsck for partion like /dev/sda , dev/sdb

example, if /home is mounted on /dev/sda

if any problme of /home,

unmout it and run fsck command, it should fixed any problem

but lvm does not work like this....

currently i dont know what to do .... but i will try to find a solution ...


but what your vgscan and lvscan saying??

does those show accurate data or is there any problme with those output ??
