The CentOS PC does not appear to be connecting to the internet, and the browser does not connect. How can I troubleshoot this and what settings do I need to check? On XP I would start by using the command line box and ipconfig, is there something similar with CentOS/Linux?

ipconfig is ifconfig on unix
netstat almost works the same, (netstat -rn shows routes)
tracert is traceroute on unix
ping is almost equal,
options can be different, like -b for process names on windows netstat -ab and equivalent netstat -ap linux.
command -? or command -h or command --help should show some useage info on a command.
oh, and you can check your dns setting in /etc/resolv.conf.
