Hi,
First of all you should check if SSH is running over the Debian BOX. The easiest way is using SSH over the box. Go to a comamnd prompt and type:
# ssh localhost
See if you can get a prompt. If now it seems that SSH is not working on your Debian box. In this case try this command:
/etc/init.d/ssh restart
This will restart if it is installed. If not try tthis command to install it:
apt-get install ssh openssh-server
