Browse All TopicsHi,
I got Linux systems (Debian distro) accessible only via terminal and I need to use there a USB flash drive.
How can I find in general where is the USB device so that I can mount it?
Are there some Debian packages that I can install and make this job easier
Thanks,
Todor

In general you can use dmesg after connecting the USB drive. The last messages are related to the detection of the new device. Look for the lines containing /dev/sd[something].
You can configure udev to do special stuff when a device is connected (run a script, mount it) and the newer distros normally do this already.
