I have VMware Workstation 6 installed on a Fedora 8 x64 system. I've set up VMware for my kernel, 2.6.23.14-107.fc8. In VMware, I installed Windows Pro x64 SP2, and the installation went fine. Whenever I start VMware (not even necessarily power on a VM), I have about 5-10 minutes before the entire system invariably crashes. Everything: VMware, Fedora, everything, and it forces me to do a hard reboot.
Nothing in particular seems to trigger the crash. Like I said, VMware Workstation is just running, doing whatever, and bam!
I did some research online, and people seemed to have problems on their F8 x64 systems where "packaged" virtualistion software was clashing with VMware. I checked, and I don't have any of that software installed.
I don't even know where to begin to better diagnose the problem. If you know of any logs that might be useful, I can get that data for you.
My end goal is to run a Windows environment inside Linux. Nothing special, not going over any servers, just me and my machine.
I'm new to VMware, as you may be able to tell. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Taj Robb
