Browse All TopicsWhen I first install fedora 9 it had no /usr/src/linux dir etc so
I downloaded the source set everything up as usual and recompiled the kernel. However I was trying to install a peice of software and it needed the development kernel for some reason. So I install that source and the program worked however I never compiled the development kernel. after I did this whenever I did uname -r it kept coming up as
2.6.25-14.fc9.i686
Now in my /lib/modules directory I have a listing for both 2.6.25 and 2.6.25-14.fc9.i686 but in the
2.6.25-14.fc9.i686 directory I don't have build or source Im guessing becuase it has never been compiled. Does that mean that I have to recompile the kernel again from /usr/src/linux (which is a sym link to linux-2.6.25) to change uname -r to display 2.6.25? I only ask because if there is anyway around the 2hr recompile I would prefer.
