Install a tar.gz file

I would like to install Floola. I have downloaded the floola-linux.tar.gz file and now have no Idea what to do with it. I am using Fedora 10 and am a VERY newbie to Linux.  I would like to learn the command line or the GUI is fine.  I don't know where to extract it, or where to put the extracted files or what to do with the files once they are extracted (this is the property of the floola file: executable (application/x-executable).  I would love some step by step instructions. I am lost.  Any help is greatly appreciated

gunzip -c floola-linux.tar.gz  | tar xvf -

that will extract your gzip and tarball, then you can look at your files, you may need to use a make file to compile the app.

Hi ChronJob:

I have downloaded the file in my home directory in the download folder if that matters.  
Here is the message I got, THank you for your help:

[root@localhost kathco]# gunzip -c floola-linux.tar.gz  | tar xvf -
gzip: floola-linux.tar.gz: No such file or directory
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
[root@localhost kathco]#

I typed that and this is what I got.

Hi,

After downloading the .tar.gz file you may extract files from it using:
tar xvfz Floola-linux.tar.gz
Be careful with filenames. In linux they are case sensitive, so you may have two files: Floola-linux.tar.gz and floola-linux.tar.gz and their names are different.

Hi tiurbec, Thank you I will try that..  I can't remember now how I downloaded the file? I had to wipe the machine because I was stuck in a loop of not being able to download or get on the internet.  I guess I will just go to yum? I am so new at this and I really appreciate your comment.

to Tiurbec, Hi there I did that and now it is extracted, I restarted the machine, but I don't see the application anywhere, do I need to compile it or something?
