tryin to connect to sata 2 tx 300 -- with two sata drives in mandriva

I have upgraded my linux machine from 2007 to 2008
in the mandriva 2007 I could see my two SATA 2 drives.
after the upgrade to 2008, I could only see in the hardware the controller, but not the drives...

how can I fix that?

all the /dev/ that are in the list are of a disk that I already see... (ranging from /dev/hda1 /dev/hda2 /dev/hda5 /dev/hda6)

I need the disk that I do not see...

Are is your controller configured as RAID or single?
Do you have the latest drivers for your controller?

do "modprobe sata_promise" helps?
I suspect You used custom sata driver (provided by promise) but upgraded kernel does not know how to use it.
Do You still have old kernel in Your /boot/grub/menu.lst file (in menu while booting the system).
Try booting with old kernel.
