Specs For Building Server For Linux....

I have an old AMD K-6 2/400 processor that I'm thinking about using to build a Linux Server using Version 9. I plan to connect about 8 pc's to this server and these pc's will access programs on the server (windows programs) and they will also access the internet through this server. Since these pc's are newer and faster, I wondered if there would be a problem running any windows programs or connecting to the internet? Should I use a newer pc to act as my server?
